How flexible do they need it?

Our young Tory rising stars, and authors of the recent Britain Unchained book, look towards Asia for examples of a less rule-bound, more flexible, and of course cheaper, workforce.

I wonder if Vijay Mallya, owner of India’s Kingfisher Airlines is considered a role model. Read a very disturbing article in today’s Independent.

    It should not really surprise anyone, how many disabled people have committed suicide in the UK after being told they cannot have any benefits at all.

    India is a country in which the brown envelope is the way they do business, this airline will not be the only one to go down this route, the people pay while this ass hole will come and live in the UK as a Non Dom, I’m sure he will not be suffering to much if his company goes bust.

      Yes treborc it’s a shame that the one great success of this government is that they, along with the press, have managed to convince so many that ‘benefit scroungers’ have managed not only to create our economic problems, but that by reducing these benefits we can get out of recession. So it wasn’t bankers and crooked politicians after all.

      Mind you there were a few New Labour ministers who played the same game.

        Few Labour politicians who still do, and a few non New labour. Miliband said at conference those that can work should work, but where is the work.

        I’ve given up listening to people who run this country, most are either rich or will become rich

    So company goes bust and doesn’t pay its staff (presumably in attempt to save firm and hence future salaries of staff). One of them tops himself due to money worries. Very sad but how is this linked to flexible working practices? You trying to make an unrelated point via your now exposed shaky relationship with the truth Les? Don’t try anything to do with business or economics, you just don’t understand it.

      Just can’t help yourself can you DC. You should get help. Even if you don’t want to see a doctor you could talk with someone who is close to you, a friend or family member. You really don’t need to be following me like this. It’s very weird.

      But to
      answer your accusation, no it was from the authors use of Asia as

    An arrest warrant has been issued for him, for debts of £2 million, he is at the moment with his F1 racing team, and laughed at the idea he has passed dud cheques, but it seems he has.

    he can always sell the gold he wears on his arms that should cover it.

            I wonder who owns LabourHome now? I hope Alex doesn’t as it would be a great shame if Les’s desire to defame various Tories got Alex pulled up in court again.

            Les is not as impetuous and green as Alex was, so little chance of that happening. Anyway, I’m convinced that LH was getting a bit too near the bone for the Tories and they were determined to close it down, just before the GE. Shame on the Tories.

            Err, LH had pretty much died before the election. Is conspiracy theory-itus spreading in Labour? First Tom Watson with his “massive Tory peado conspiracy” that he hasn’t apologised for yet, now, obscure irrelevant dead website attacked by Tories (who left LabourList, LibCon etc alone).

            Chatting with lawyers (serious ones) I mentioned Les’s stunt that Damien Green was arrested for “internet grooming” and they all said it was defamatory, so Green could have sued (if the tories had a massive conspiracy to close down LH). So Les isn’t so careful as you think.

            Of course Les should have apologised for that remark. But the fact is the Right are pretty ruthless at making sure there are fewer critical voices out there. Labour List etc are tolerated because they represent the ‘official’ Labour line and are pretty harmless.

            I don’t think the right are that ruthless. Any examples?

            Lord McAlpine is just trying to clear his name, and give a clear reminder to people that they should think before they tweet. It is mostly left wingers who are getting sued because they seem prepared to believe the worst in their opponents so tweeted with glee the idea that a senior Tory was a peado. I think Les showed a similar mentality with the Green comment. Lucky for Alex Les didn’t write a blog here recently or he could have been getting one of those letters before action (and given Les’s dislike of apologising, ultimately a court summons).

      In fact Alex bowed out long long time ago. LH has changed hands.He may not even be in Labour any more because he supported Benetez in the London Mayoral and not Ken. He’s still on a journey discovering himself.
      But good to see some traditional Labour stuff, even though I don’t always agree with it Les.
