I’m agreeing with Peter Oborne again!

No state funeral please

Something’s changed. Is it me or Oborne? From his latest piece in the Telegraph it seems to be him. Quite rightly he points out that Thatcher is a divisive person who many, such as myself, dislike intensely. To give her a state funeral as Francis Maude is now discussing with the Royals is beyond the pale. Let her go to her grave unmourned by the many like myself.

The shame is I would guess that if this argument goes public we should expect Blair certainly, and Brown possibly to support the idea of a state funeral.

    They can do as they please, I will be drinking to her, love her or hate her, she was one thing that Blair and Brown and Miliband will never be a solid politician, crafty cleaver and cunning, unlike the bunch we have today.

    I would give her a state funeral, no problem straight down the nearest refuse tip.

      She was a trained scientist hence her sharp and analytical mind.
      Other than that, I don’t have a good word to say about her and no I don’t think she deserves a State Funeral. No politician ever does.

        Bloody hell yes she was but we have had lawyers solicitors accountants and yet we ended up with Brown.

          Brown redeemed himself and came up with solutions after the collapse of Capitalism.
          Thats what we need in the Party more pragmatic people with solutions not more of the idealists dreamers and bods who come up with creating more problems.

            Pity then the solution did not come before the crises, that’s what we need people with foresight not after sight.

    Some people are criticizing the Thatcher film for showing the Iron Lady in her declining years with dementia. Its not supposed to be a political film but one showing the fraility of human life. You may achieve great things but in the grander scheme of things it doesn’t amount to much, because Age is the Great Leveller. 
    Churchill also lost his capacity through age but nobody dare approach him and tell him so he continued as PM for a few more years.
    Wilson wisely realised that his powers were declining and resigned to the surprise of all. MacMillan became Lord Stockton and talked about the Tories selling off the family silver.
    Maggies Friend Ron started forgetting things and his fellow Americans forgot about him. It was right that Meryl Streep made the film in Thatchers lifetime just to remind us all that even the mightiest can’t beat advancing years.
